We will share insights from the programme as it progresses and use it as a way of identifying further CPD to support progress.
What are the core objectives:
- To ensure that teachers from the identified gender and BME groups feel more confident about their leadership potential
- To support teachers in thinking about their career progression
- To improve the succession planning for leadership in schools
Why is there an Equality & Diversity focus?
- Currently, only 3.1% of headteachers are from black and minority ethnic groups (compared to 7.6% of all teachers).
- At secondary, just 38.2% of headteachers are female (compared to 73.8% of all classroom teachers). (Source: School Workforce in England: November 2015 statistical first release).
